Women collected more broadly than men, with higher participation across every medium. Men concentrated spending in fewer mediums at higher price points (13% of men bought at prices above $100,000, versus 7% of women). Paintings remained the most-collected medium for both genders (26% of works in all collections), with 84% of women owning paintings versus 73% of men. Digital works fell to 10% of collections (the same for both genders), from 13% in 2025, though still above 3% in 2024. A higher share of women (59%) than men (51%) had digital art in their collections.
Established artists accounted for 46% of works in collections overall in 2026, a slight increase on 2025 but a sharp rise from the 25% recorded in 2024. Women were less focused on established artists than men (43% of works, versus 47% for men), and held a higher share of new and emerging artists (36%, versus 33% for men).
Works by male artists still outnumbered those by female artists in HNWIs’ collections, at 56% versus 44%. Women's collections held a higher share of works by female artists (46%) than men’s (43%).
